Supermarket software

A supermarket has two problems: the product list runs past a thousand, and at the counter a second is expensive. Everything else comes after those two.

Handling a thousand products

Sorted by category, found by barcode, and for anything without one a barcode minted and a label printed. However long the list gets, finding something at the counter does not take time.

Several counters

Two counters, two devices, one stock. A sale at one lowers the figure at the other. With more than one branch, each has its own accounts and the business has a combined view.

Offers and points

Time-bound discounts across the shop or on chosen products. Struck-price stickers print the night before, and the till price changes itself when the offer begins. Regulars build up points.

End of day

What sold, what sat, what was made, and what should be in the drawer against what is — reconciliation by report rather than by counting.
