Grocery shop software

A grocery shop makes hundreds of small sales a day, gives credit to faces it knows, and earns a few taka a product. Software here has one job: be fast, and keep the accounts straight.

Fast at the counter

Scan and the item lands. For anything without a barcode, Gonok mints one and prints the label. Open-price goods — rice, lentils, oil — just take a price.

Credit on the street

Credit in a grocery shop means a page in a ledger and a good memory. In Gonok it comes out of the bill, is collected a little at a time, and the list shows how old each debt is.

Expiry and stock

Milk, bread and packaged food can be held by batch with an expiry date, and anything running low is flagged before it runs out.

Questions

Can it run on a phone alone?
Yes. The whole shop runs on a phone; add a computer later on the same licence.
What if the power or internet goes?
Selling does not stop. Everything is written on the phone and settles itself when the line returns.
